Sheema, when you include the window, the camera exposed for the light outside and created a silhouette of your subject. Put your shoulder against the wall the window is on and have your subject turn her face towards you. Move in closer by using your zoom if you have one... Engage her eyes... you will be amazed how much stronger the portrait becomes.
